Day 80

5.03: Right, so some looney reckons that Day 79 is the day that we ought to get ourselves together and live a bitt.

David Eagleman, is interested in the possibilities that ‘grey areas’ hold. In a world where we are supposed to have all the answers, all the time, David someone or other will preach to us about the virtues of being unsure, and show how and why it is possible to enjoy a clear-thinking, dogma-free awe for the mysteries around us…

Really? You’re going to preach about he virtues of being unsure? and you’re going to show how and why it is possible to enjoy a clear-thinking, dogma-free awe for the mysteries around us and still not know what in sweet hell you’re talking about?

Well knock yourself out smart guy.

“A Possibilian, he argues, is one who is interested and comfortable with our present position of vast ignorance and one who can celebrate uncertainty.”

But do you really need to preach?

So let’s accept the facts. OK, I didn’t get to bed especially early last night. Yes, I stayed up and drank free beer, champagne and wine. And yes I heard a few articles and  few glib lessons about being unsure and the biggest one is this:

As Sean Penn said, “Certainty is the disease of kings.” Roll with the punches and grin with the kicks. I’m not sure that I’m thinking clearly now.

But I’ve woken up and I’m starting to write, and I could live without anyone preaching at me. Seriously, I might throw up on Daniel Eagleman’s shoes…
